EDITOR’S NOTE

In Jun Takahashi’s Spring/Summer 2006 collection, the designer fantasized a punk universe of his own. In collaboration with Nobhiko Kitamura of Hysteric Glamour, they created five fictional rock bands, namely CHUUUT, KLAUS, THE SSSSS, THE CROUH, AND THEO BURP. Further, Takahashi took inspirations from progressive German rock groups in the 1970s and made up lyrics, records and album covers. The runway took place in a dark space lit by carved white votive candles, with girls wandering in cut-off shirts and draped dresses, which can be considered as an exhibition of deconstructed “band merch”, and according to the designer himself, “heavily influenced by the early works of Martin Margiela”.
