HUSSEIN CHALAYAN AW11 "Kaikoku" Airplane Projection Maxi Dress

US$570.00

DETAILS

Titled "Kaikoku" (開国), translating to "open country" in Japanese. Hussein Chalayan’s A/W 2011 collection captures Japan's embrace of westernized culture, reflecting the nation's post-World War II journey towards openness while upholding its traditions. His admiration for Japanese art and fashion manifests through the collection's fluid lines in tops and dresses, with scarves flowing from lapels, winding asymmetric bias-cut pieces, kimono-like sleeves and wraps, and oversized man-tailoring.

The maxi dress features an abstract photographic print reminiscent of the view through a Japanese window of an American bomber, as seen on the collection’s runway.
