EDITOR’S NOTE
Spring/Summer 2019 “We are the world”, is Virgil Abloh's debut collection at Louis Vuitton. The name pays tribute to the same-titled song by Michael Jackson, and also conveys the designer’s vision to create an inclusive global community. He took inspiration from the 1939 fantasy musical film "The Wizard of Oz", which tells the protagonist Dorothy’s surreal adventures after accidentally entering the magic land of Oz. It is believed the choice of this film serves as a metaphor to the designer own life - being an outsider in the fashion world. Bliss Foster has made a great video about this collection and Virgil’s work in general.

Featured in Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2019 collection runway, the crewneck sweater is emblematic of the season’s theme. Inspired by “Wizard of Oz” and presumably referenced the Maison Margiela team photo, silhouettes of Dorothy and her friends standing upon a brick road are woven at the front. It features multiple textures of knitted wool, relaxed fit, finished with a black medallion LV logo on the bottom. Body 94% wool, 6% polyamide. Made in Italy.
